Cheap, nice breezes but no scenery

Tapa's is an upstairs lanai bar where you can be thankful for the tropical breezes, esp. if you're drunk. :) It is adjacent to a restaurant that I want to try one day. There is an area just off the bar with tables and chairs, high top tables and stools, also 2 video screens. I was there 'round midnight on 10/5/17 and there was a mixed crowd--I say 'crowd' but it was pretty quiet for a Thurs. The lanai overlooks an alley but I didn't get a whiff of anything stinky. I paid $4.50 for a rum and coke. The bartender was nice, but security guy yelled at me for trying to leave by the restaurant door. Not sure if I would go back or not.

Friendly bar

Went on sunday Dec 16th - There was no shortage of friendly staff and customers saying hi or aloha. Over a dozen customers at 230pm.They didnt have food available so I moved on.

Really friendly bartender and customers

Went there on November, 2010 in the afternoon, this is the only one gay bar that I visited in Waikiki. It's really nice. Bartender is friendly as well as customers. Stayed there for two hours; I'm already in love with this place. I'm working on relocating to Hawaii and would go there often.

Fortunate find.

I found Tapas by accident, since it was the closest bar to my hotel when I arrived. I only saw locals there, which is a good sign...The drinks are inventive, reasonably priced and strong; the jukebox is decent; and it is actually fairly well soundproofed, so you can sit at the bar or on the lennai and not suffer if someone is butchering a karaoke song. I just moved here, and it is my new favourite pub. The staff is friendly and heckle their regulars mercilessly.

Off the Beaten path

Not Really, right in Waikiki behind Fusions, good local spot, friendly staff, small but a good place to go with friends, or meet new ones. Prices are good for Hawaii, and not a lot of tourist.
