Wailea Bay Beach

(10 Ratings)
A quiet, unofficially gay, beach
From Hwy 19, turn onto Old Puako Road, then turn right on Puako Beach Road. Drive to Pole Marker #67 and turn onto the dirt road. Proceed to parking area. Take trail down to the often-nude, mostly gay beach on weekdays, mixed on weekends. Most beautiful early in the morning with great snorkeling conditions and light.

Wailea Bay Beach is a beautiful beach, but not quite the Gay beach, nor nude... As the instructions say, from Old Puako Road, turn in at the DIRT road (not the big public parking lot), then hike your way through brush and bramble out to the water. You may find a trail or two, but you'll arrive at cliffs above the Gay, nude beach at the far northern end of Wailea Bay. It is isolated, separated, from Wailea Bay Beach by impassible lava outcroppings so you must go beyond the parking lot for Wailea Bay county beach, to something that resembles a dirt road; anything that resembles a dirt road between the parking lot and Hapuna Beach state park and hotel will do; rough terrain for cars.

Beautiful and private

Great place to swim snorkel, in the nude. The guys are hit and miss. Lots of places to hookup.

More Natural, More Private, More Naked Men

Wailea Bay "Beach 67" / Kohala Coast Wailea Bay Marine Preserve's two beaches are nicknamed 69 and 67. Beach 69 is the larger and is great for snorkeling and diving. Beach 67, on the north side of the bay, is smaller and frequented by naturists and gay men. On Hwy. #19 at Mile Marker 71, turn into Puako Village, then right onto old Puako Road. Access Beach 67 by taking the gravel road at telephone pole #67, onward to the bluff, then hiking down to the beach. Nude sunbathing common unless authorities are present and enforce anti-nudity regulations.
